MI vs SRH tip-off XI: Kumar Kartikeya comes back, Umran Malik to get a game and Mayank Markande returns

IPL 2023: In a must-win clash, five-time champions Mumbai Indians take on laggards Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Rohit Sharma’s side needs to win handsomely against Aiden Markram’s side and hope the Gujarat Titans beat Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Mumbai’s batting has been firing on all cylinders throughout the tournament. Suryakumar Yadav is back to his very best. It has been only the skipper who could not come up with the goods this season so far. The MI Paltan would be hoping their skipper to produce a good knock for his side in this crucial game. Apart from that bowling has been always a weak link to the side and continues to be. Jofra Archer’s replacement Chris Jordan could not make much of an impact so far.

The Men in Orange, on the other hand, will be hoping to finish the season on a high with a win and spoil the Mumbai party. Their batting did not click throughout the tournament apart from Heinrich Klassen who continues to look in ominous form this season on the back of the ton. Skipper Aiden Markram had a horror show in the season. Their most expensive player Harry Brook did not have much of an impact either. Their bowling has been better compared to their batting, however, nothing that opposition batters would be worried about.

Kumar Kartikeya in for Hrithik Shokeen

The number of right-handers in the Sunrisers Hyderabad top order means Rohit will pick Kumar Kartikeya over the off-spinner Shokeen. The left-arm bowler has looked promising in patches throughout the season whenever he got the opportunity but nothing substantial and would be hoping to change it against Markram’s side.

Umran Malik in for Karthik Tyagi

The SRH management has been questioned time and again about the absence of Umran Malik around the set-up. However, the response has been unsatisfactory from both the skipper and coach Brian Lara. Tyagi has had a couple of mediocre outings on the field and given the bounce on offer at Wankhede SRH may finally unleash Malik.

Mayank Markande back into the side

The leg-spinner has picked up 12 wickets from 10 games this season and he looked in excellent rhythm. However, after back of a poor performance against the GT he was dropped in the last game against the RCB. The SRH think tank might be looking to get him back into things and hope he would fire against his former side.
